The Dakar Classic – Competition on the Royal Route
The Dakar Classic is the historic sister event of the modern Dakar Rally, and it is aimed at vehicles first registered before 2000. It follows the same route through Saudi Arabia as the main event, but focuses on regularity, navigation, and reliability instead of pure top speed. The Puch 280GE: A Homage to Family History
The Puch 280GE used is visually identical to the off-road vehicle that Josef Loder once used as an assistance driver for the BMW Motorrad Team in the Dakar Rally. With his sons Maximilian and Laurence now taking part, the family continues this tradition. Before the 2026 Dakar, the vehicle was completely disassembled and rebuilt after a rollover in the dunes at its premiere in 2024.
